Gibson, Dunn & Crutcher has hired litigators Brian Gilchrist and Elaine Chen as partners in Hong Kong from Clifford Chance.

Both Gilchrist and Chen had been at Clifford Chance for more than a decade. Gilchrist, who previously worked with Freshfields Bruckhaus Deringer and the legacy Johnson Stokes & Master, joined Clifford Chance as a partner in 2008. Chen became a partner at the Magic Circle firm in the same year.

The duo left Clifford Chance weeks after the firm lost investigations partner Wendy Wysong to Steptoe & Johnson, which opened its Hong Kong office late last year.

“We are pleased to welcome Brian and Elaine to the firm,” Ken Doran, chairman and managing partner, Gibson Dunn, said.  “They regularly represent high profile individuals, financial institutions… and are extremely well known and highly regarded in the Hong Kong market.”
