The second edition of the ALB India Law Awards, held at the Grand Hyatt in Mumbai on Feb. 27, saw the heavyweights of the legal industry grace the occasion.

Cyril Amarchand Mangaldas (CAM), Shardul Amarchand Mangaldas (SAM) and L&L Partners were the big winners of the night claiming three awards apiece (excluding deals), while Khaitan & Co and Trilegal won two titles each.

CAM claimed the prestigious awards of India Law Firm of the Year award and India Deal Firm of the Year, with Dealmaker of the Year going to its managing partner, Cyril Shroff.

Meanwhile, SAM’s titles included Banking and Financial Services Law Firm of the Year and Media and Telecommunications Law Firm of the Year. L&L Partners’ Rajiv Luthra and Bobby Chandhoke were the winners of Managing Partner of the Year and Dispute Resolution Lawyer of the Year, respectively.

Ikigai Law was named the Boutique Law Firm of the Year, Veritas Legal the Rising Law Firm of the Year and Anand and Anand the Intellectual Property Law Firm of the Year. Meanwhile, Khaitan & Co was awarded the Dispute Resolution Law Firm of the Year award, with Herbert Smith Freehills picking up the International Law Firm of the Year.

Among the other individual categories, Khaitan’s Vineet Shingal and Chambers of Anish Wadia’s Anish Wadia shared the Young Lawyer of the Year (Law Firm) award. And Nisha Kaur Uberoi of Trilegal was named the Woman Lawyer of the Year.

In the in-house categories, WNS claimed the title of the Innovative In-House Team of the Year while Allcargo Logistics was awarded India In-house Team of the Year. Two lawyers with companies in the banking and finance space picked up key individual awards: Kotak Mahindra Bank’s Pallavi Taneja won the Woman Lawyer of the Year award while Akshay Pathak of Airtel Payments Bank was named the In-House Lawyer of the Year.
