Baker McKenzie has elected Michael Wong as its new Asia-Pacific chair. Wong, the first Taiwanese lawyer to hold the role, succeeds Ai Ai Wong.

Additionally, Hong Kong-based partner Shih Yann Loo has been elected to serve on the firm’s global executive committee.

Wong joined Baker McKenzie’s the Taipei office as an associate in 1990, and has held several leadership positions in the firm, including office managing partner, as well as practice head of the M&A, private equity and tax practices in Taipei.

Meanwhile, Loo, who joined Baker McKenzie’s Hong Kong office in 1993, has played a key role in implementing the firm's China strategy. He has also served on the committee that oversees Baker McKenzie's offices and member firms in Mainland China, Hong Kong, Singapore, Indonesia, Malaysia, Korea and Vietnam.
