Babita Ambekar and Jonathan Goacher, former partners at London-listed firm DWF’s soon-to-be-closed Singapore office, have joined CMS and Hill Dickinson, respectively.

Ambekar was head of DWF’s India practice in Singapore. She advises on technology, renewable energy, life sciences, retail, food and hospitality for clients primarily based in the Asia-Pacific. Ambekar joined DWF in November 2018.

Also joining DWF in 2018 was Goacher, who left Kennedys in August that year to set up his new firm’s corporate insurance practice in Singapore. He advises on regulatory matters, including data privacy, senior manager regimes, U.S. and other trade sanctions, anti-bribery and anti-corruption laws, regulatory compliance, licensing, capital and solvency requirements, regulatory consents and employment laws.

DWF established its Singapore office, its first in Asia, in June 2017 after hiring a four- lawyer team from Eversheds Sutherland. In July this year, the firm announced that it would be closing that office following a strategic review. DWF also announced it would be closing its Brussels office and reducing headcount in Dubai.

Another former DWF Singapore partner, Joel Shen, is now a special counsel at Withers.
