The 19th ALB Hong Kong Law Awards, a virtual event held on Nov. 27, was a resounding success, celebrating the standout lawyers, firms, in-house teams and legal work in the region.
Herbert Smith Freehills won three awards, including International Arbitration Law Firm of the Year and Hong Kong Law Firm of the Year.
Among individual awards, Allen & Overy’s Vicki Liu won Managing Partner of the Year, and Deacons’ Charmaine Koo was awarded Dispute Resolution Lawyer of the Year, while King & Wood Mallesons claimed Young Lawyer of the Year (Law Firm) for Urszula McCormack.
Additionally, Ashurst’s Jini Lee was named the Woman Lawyer of the Year (Law Firm) while Betty Yap of Paul, Weiss, Rifkind, Wharton & Garrison was the Dealmaker of the Year (Betty Yap).
Baker McKenzie was the winner of Intellectual Property Law Firm of the Year, and Charltons was awarded the Transactional Boutique Law Firm of the Year. Other law firm winners included ELLALAN (Rising Law Firm of the Year) and Hugill & Ip (Dispute Resolution Boutique Law Firm of the Year).
In the in-house categories, Ant Group picked up both the Innovative In-House Team of the Year and ACC HK Award Hong Kong In-House Team of the Year awards. The Robertsons Solicitors Award Financial Services In-House Team of the Year was claimed by Ares SSG Capital Management.
Meanwhile, PwC’s Sharyn Ch’ang was awarded In-House Lawyer of the Year, Zoe Shou of ESR Cayman was named the Woman Lawyer of the Year (In-House) and Fosun Hani’s Jane Yin won the Young Lawyer of the Year (In-House) award.
