Latham & Watkins has hired M&A specialist Hiroaki (Hiro) Takagi as a partner in Tokyo from Nishimura & Asahi, where he spent more than 15 years.

Takagi, who has more than two decades of experience, focuses on cross-border M&A and private equity transactions, general corporate laws, corporate governance and securities regulations.

Prior to joining Nishimura, Takagi was an attorney with Japan’s Ministry of Justice. He also had a stint at Paul, Weiss, Rifkind, Wharton & Garrison.

Following Takagi’s hire, Latham now has seven lawyers in its Tokyo office.
