Legal counsel in the banking, funds and technology sectors are among the highest-paid in-house lawyers in Singapore, according to Robert Walters’ Annual Salary Survey 2021.
Lawyers in the banking sector with one to three years of post-qualification experience (PQE) were paid in the range of S$70,000 ($53,000) and S$130,000 in 2020, with the range going up to S$140,000-S$220,000 and S$180,000-S$400,000 for 4-7 PQE and 8-12 PQE, respectively.
Meanwhile, legal counsel in the 8-12 PQE band in the fund/asset management space earned S$150,000-S$350,000 last year, with their counterparts with equivalent experience in the technology/e-commerce sector receiving S$180,000-S$300,000.
In comparison, lawyers in the 8-12 PQE band in the pharma and retail sectors earned salaries in the range of S$140,000-S$250,000 and S$130,000-S$220,000, respectively.
