Indian multinational conglomerate Adani Group has tapped PM Devaiah to be its new general counsel. Devaiah joins from Everstone Group, which has hired Pratibha Jain, a former partner at Nishith Desai Associates (NDA), to replace him.

Devaiah, who joined India-focused private equity firm Everstone Group in 2007, was the group’s vice-chairman and general counsel. His entire career, which began in 1990, has been spent in in-house roles, including legal head positions at ICICI Venture, The Carlyle Group and BPL Cellular.

Meanwhile, Jain, who helped launch NDA’s Delhi office in 2011, joined the firm from Goldman Sachs. Her previous firms include Sullivan & Cromwell and Skadden, Arps, Slate, Meagher & Flom. Jain’s practice focuses on private equity, M&A, corporate and regulatory advisory and public policy.

Her departure from NDA makes her the third partner exit from the firm in a matter of weeks. Simone Reis and Rajesh Simhan recently left the firm to start boutique Anagram Partners.
