UK law firm Simmons & Simmons has hired TMT and IP expert Yingyu Wang as a partner in Singapore from Taylor Vinters Via, which shuttered its Singapore office recently.

With a focus on technology and intellectual property law advice on litigious and non-contentious matters, Wang has experience in technology adoption, IP regulatory, and financial services regulatory issues.

UK firm Taylor Vinters established its Singapore office in 2011. In 2017, it acquired a stake in Via Law Corporation, led by directors Yingyu Wang and Bryan Ghows, to form Taylor Vinters Via. Ghows departed in 2019 to set up his eponymous law firm.

The hire of Wang means that Simmons now has 11 partners in Singapore. These include Sonia Lim, who joined from Linklaters in 2021, and Dax Lim, who was hired from Osborne Clarke in 2020. Last year it lost arbitration expert Amanda Lees to King & Wood Mallesons.
