PRC law firm Haiwen & Partners has hired shipping dispute resolution specialist Edward Liu as a partner in its Hong Kong office from the UK’s Hill Dickinson.

Liu joined Hill Dickinson in 2018, and became a partner in 2021. Prior to that, he worked at Reed Smith for nearly eight years across two stints, and DLA Piper.

With expertise in commercial dispute resolution, Liu specialises in international arbitration and commercial litigation involving international trade, bulk commodity, energy and offshore construction, maritime and ship building, equity disputes, and international investments.

He represents financial institutions, insurance companies, multinational corporations, non-governmental organisations, Chinese state-owned enterprises, and maritime and trade companies in disputes heard by courts in Hong Kong and the UK.

With the addition of Liu, Haiwen’s Hong Kong office now has seven partners, including M&A expert Su Hao, who joined in June.
