CMS Cameron McKenna Nabarro Olswang has advised Qatari telecoms firm Ooredoo on its agreement to sell its Myanmar unit $576 million to Singapore vehicle Nine Communications, which was represented by Rajah & Tann and Allen and Gledhill.
This marked the second exit by an overseas mobile operator from Myanmar following last year’s military coup. Norwegian telecom company Telenor departed Myanmar in March.
The CMS team was led by London partners Chris Watson, Valentina Santambrogio, and Jacqueline Vallat. The Rajah & Tann partners involved in the deal included Chester Toh, Hiroyuki Ota, and Min Thein.
