Clyde & Co has opened an office in Thailand after hiring two lawyers from the exiting Kennedys, namely partner Ian Johnston and legal director Sorawat Wongkaweepairot.

Kennedys recently announced that it would be shuttering Bangkok office following a review of its operation in Thailand. The Bangkok office had launched in 2017, with Johnston relocating from Kennedys in Singapore.

The new office aims to provide insurance advice to domestic and international insurers and reinsurers, as well as litigation and arbitration services. Johnston, an international arbitration specialist, has extensive dispute-resolution experience.

With the establishment of an office in Thailand, Clyde now has a presence in the Asian cities of Beijing, Chongqing, Hong Kong, Shanghai, and Singapore, along with associated offices in Kuala Lumpur, New Delhi, and Ulaanbaatar.
