Japanese Big Five firm Mori Hamada & Matsumoto plans to open an office in New York this autumn in a move to expand its network outside Asia. It follows in the footsteps of fellow Japan heavyweights Nishimura & Asahi and Nagashima Ohno & Tsunematsu.
According to a statement from MHM, this new office aims to tap into demand for legal services from recovering economies after the COVID-19 pandemic.
The Japanese firm currently has overseas offices in Beijing, Shanghai, Singapore, Bangkok, Yangon, Ho Chi Minh, and Hanoi. In October, it entered into an association in Indonesia with local firm ATD Law.
