Vietnamese law firm Asia Counsel has hired corporate expert Phong Nguyen as a partner from Freshfields Bruckhaus Deringer, where he was a senior associate.

Nguyen has two decades of experience in cross-border M&A, capital markets, and banking and finance transactions. He advises overseas investors on projects in Vietnam in sectors such as education, healthcare, consumer products, fintech and insurance.

Before joining Freshfields in 2016, Nguyen was at French firm Gide Loyrette Nouel and Hogan Lovells.

Nguyen’s arrival means Asia Counsel now has four partners.
