Korean Big Six law firm Yoon & Yang has hired Hee Jae Lee, a former director of the Korea Fair Trade Commission (KFTC), as a partner in Seoul.

The hire further grows the firm’s antitrust offering after adding Kyunghee Yang as a partner from the Korea Fair Trade Mediation Agency in May.

With 18 years of experience at the KFTC, Lee brings valuable antitrust and competition law expertise, covering cartel investigations, dominance issues, subcontracting, franchise businesses, large retail businesses, labelling and advertising, and standardised terms.

One of Lee's notable cases during her time at the KFTC involved investigating alleged collusion among Korean instant noodle manufacturers. This recognition earned her the "Employee of the Year" title at the KFTC in 2012.

The Antitrust & Competition Practice Group at Yoon & Yang now boasts a team of over 50 legal professionals, including attorneys with previous experience at the KFTC.

Lee’s addition means Yoon & Yang has hired eight senior lawyers in the past 10 months, including shipping finance specialist Elayne Heeseung Sung and corporate expert Irene Y. Kim, who joined from Lee & Ko and Samsung Electronics, respectively, in May.
