Delhi-based disputes boutique AKS Partners has expanded its Asian footprint with a new office in Dubai, becoming at least the fifth Indian law firm to open in the Middle East finance hub this year.

Dubai’s position as an international arbitration hub and its technology-forward policies prompted the firm to open in the United Arab Emirates Capital, AKS Partners said.

“The firm’s expertise in arbitration and dispute resolution, in particular, is expected to be in high demand in Dubai, which is fast becoming a leading centre for international dispute resolution. The firm had recently represented two large conglomerates in LCIA Arbitration Proceedings in London, worth multi-million USD in disputes. We think the time is right for us to leverage our experience in this area. We are well-positioned to serve the needs of the region’s burgeoning demands in various sector,” managing partner Sonal Kumar Singh said in a statement.

Dubai’s tax-friendly corporate policies, especially for technology companies, coupled with the liberalization of its foreign investment regime has attracted many Indian businesses to the financial hub. And law firms have followed.

Singularity Legal, Goswami & Nigam, Vidhisastras Advocates & Solicitors and Parin Legal have all opened offices in Dubai this year.

The UAE is now the seventh-largest investor in India, according to India’s commerce ministry, and the Middle Eastern nation is also India’s second-largest export destination. Bilateral trade between the two countries was $84.5 billion in the year from April 2022 to March 2023.
