Dentons has advised Singaporean real estate company Mapletree Investments on its one-billion-pound agreement ($1.25 billion) to acquire 8,192 student housing beds across 19 cities in the UK and Germany from Cuscaden Peak Investments, which was represented by CMS, Eng and Co, and Carey Olsen.
According to the Business Times, the acquisition brings Mapletree’s overall student housing portfolio to 33,000 beds across 47 cities in the UK, the US, Germany, and Canada. The newspaper added that the portfolio includes assets located in “key university cities” in the UK, such as Bristol, Cambridge, Durham, Edinburgh, Oxford, and York, as well as Bremen in Germany.
The Eng and Co team comprised managing director Rachel Eng, director Andrew Heng, and associate director Zu Hao Peh.
The Carey Olsen team working on the Jersey law aspects of the transaction included Jersey partner Claire Le Quesne and Singapore counsel Susan McKinstray.
The Dentons team was led by partners Simon Tweedle and Jayne Schnider.
