Dentons LuatViet, Dentons’ member firm in Vietnam, has bolstered its energy-sector M&A capabilities in the country with the absorption of local corporate boutique EPLegal, including founder Tony Nguyen and managing partner Annie Ngo.

EPLegal has expertise in the energy and infrastructure sectors, with additional specialisation in cross-border investment, shipping and aviation, project financing as well as dispute resolution across numerous industries. It has offices in Vietnam and the UK.

The firm’s clients have included top energy players such as BW Offshore, EMAS, Fred Olsen Production, PTSC, featured capital funds and investment companies such as VinaCapital, GEMADEPT, EMAS and leading financial institutions such as Vietinbank, Citibank, PVFC, ICICI Bank, according to the firm’s LinkedIn profile.

Nguyen will lead the combined firm’s international arbitration practice. He specialises in energy, finance and banking, construction and project development, shipping and aviation, and dispute resolution sectors.

His experience working with oil and gas sector clients is extensive, encompassing energy and infrastructure construction contracts and related dispute settlements, including projects involving hydropower plants, thermal power plants, refineries, and solar energy installations.

Ngo will head Dentons LuatViet’s energy practice. She has over two decades of experience in energy, corporate investment, construction project development, dispute resolution, and finance and banking sectors.

She has advised domestic and foreign investors and businesses on legal issues related to large-scale oil and gas industry projects and renewable energy in Vietnam.

Dentons LuatViet, which formed with Dentons’ combination with LuatViet in 2022, now has eight partners across its Ho Chi Minh City and Hanoi offices.

Dentons recently combined with PJS Law to build capabilities in the Philippines.
