Indian law firm Cyril Amarchand Mangaldas has brought back corporate and M&A specialist Himanshu Chahar as director of corporate transactions in its recently opened Abu Dhabi office. He becomes the office’s first partner-level hire.

CAM opened its outpost in the UAE capital in March. The office is expected to welcome a second partner shortly with an as-yet-unnamed lawyer relocating from India, the firm told ALB.

Chahar spent six years at CAM’s Delhi office before leaving in 2022 to take up a legal consultant role at UAE firm BSA Ahmad Bin Hezeem & Associates.

He has experience advising on cross-border M&A deals, focusing on Middle East-India deals. He has specialised experience in the defence, education, and non-banking finance sectors.

Chahar has additional experience advising on alternative investment funds, airport concessionaire contracts, thermal power projects, clinical trials, rope-way projects, telemedicine projects, anti-trust/competition law matters and public charities.

“CAM’s expansion in the Middle East underscores the firm’s commitment to the region. A significant addition to this vibrant market, the firm’s Abu Dhabi office firmly positions us to deliver top-tier legal services in the region while leveraging the firm’s outstanding talent pool and exceptional standards,” Chahar said in a statement.
