Baker McKenzie Wong & Leow, the Singapore member firm of Baker McKenzie, has added an M&A team from Morrison Foerster led by principals Shirin Tang (L), the former managing partner of MoFo’s Singapore office, and Ang Lip Kian.

Tang will co-head Baker McKenzie Wong & Leow's Singapore M&A practice alongside Boo Bee Chun. With over 20 years of experience, she specialises in cross-border mergers and acquisitions and private equity transactions across Asia and the U.S. Her expertise spans institutional real estate, technology, life sciences, and consumer sectors. In recent years, Tang has led transactions totalling over $35 billion.

Tang spent more than a decade at Morrison Foerster, where she was a member of the firm's global executive committee, apart from being Singapore managing partner. Her previous roles include counsel at Shearman & Sterling in New York and Singapore, and associate at Drew & Napier.

Ang spent more than 12 years at MoFo in Shanghai and Singapore. He represents international funds, multinational corporations, and financial institutions in cross-border private equity, venture capital, mergers and acquisitions, real estate, and fund transactions. His practice covers sectors including real estate, fintech, life sciences, technology, and consumer goods.

“This team brings stellar experience and credentials in private equity, cross-border M&A and restructuring transactions to the Firm. Their joining is further evidence of our commitment to further expanding our bench strength in Singapore,” said James Huang, managing principal at Baker McKenzie Wong & Leow, in a statement.

Added Steven Sieker, Baker McKenzie's Asia chief executive: “The market reputation, calibre, and experience that Shirin, Lip Kian and team bring to Baker McKenzie complement our regional offering perfectly. This team hire underscores our commitment to further strengthening our M&A/private equity capabilities across key money markets in Asia and cements our position as the transactional firm of choice in the region.”

The additions of Tang and Ang mean that Baker McKenzie Wong & Leow now has 55 principals and local principals.
