Malaysian law firm Richard Wee Chambers (RWC), a member of the PRC’s Grandall Law Firm, has announced its merger with two local firms, significantly expanding its presence and expertise in the country.

RWC has integrated Penelope G from Subang and the Malacca-headquartered Desmond Ho & Associates. Their partners have now become partners of RWC.

Penelope Gan, who led Penelope G, brings experience in real estate, finance and banking, and estate planning. Her addition is set to strengthen the firm's corporate and commercial capabilities.

The merger with Desmond Ho & Associates brings four new partners to RWC. Desmond Ho, a former chairperson of the Malacca Bar Committee, will lead the energy law team and co-lead the international arbitration and dispute resolution team in Kuala Lumpur. Ho is known for his expertise in dispute resolution, and corporate and commercial matters, particularly in energy and real estate.

The other three partners will spearhead RWC's newly established Malacca office. Leong Zhi Hong has expertise in commercial matters and international cross-border dealings, especially with China. Lim Tse Hwei is a litigation lawyer with additional capabilities in property transactions and a focus on tax law. Desiree Teh brings expertise in dispute resolution and property transactions.

RWC, which was established in 2019, now has 10 partners. In June this year, the firm became a member of Grandall’s network.
