Indian law firm Khaitan & Co has acquired boutique Assentio Legal, which has offices in the southern cities of Chennai and Bengaluru.

The news comes shortly some weeks after Khaitan announced that it would open an office in Chennai.

Assentio Legal was founded in 2018 by partners Thriyambak Kannan, Rohan Cherian, and Renu Gopalakrishnan. In 2020, Kannan was named as one of ALB India’s Top Disputes Lawyers.

Following the acquisition, the Khaitan Chennai office will offer services in general corporate and commercial advisory, M&A, private equity and venture capital, solvent and insolvent restructuring, private and public investments, real estate, and dispute resolution matters including mediation, domestic and international arbitration.
