South Korean law firm Lee & Ko has significantly enhanced its dispute resolution capabilities with the appointment of international arbitration expert Park Eun Young as head of the firm's international disputes group.

Park spent 25 years of his three-decade-long legal career at Kim & Chang, which included founding and co-chairing its international arbitration and cross-border litigation group. He left the firm in 2022 to establish Park Arbitration Chambers, where he had been operating as an independent arbitrator. Park is also affiliated with Arbitra, a London-based arbitration management support service, in his capacity as an arbitrator.

Park's legal journey began in 1994 when he served as a judge at Seoul District Court. Since then, he has become a specialist in international commercial and investment treaty arbitration. His career also includes serving as vice president of the London Court of International Arbitration (LCIA) and founding co-chair of the International Bar Association's (IBA) Asia Pacific Arbitration Group.

With a broad practice encompassing mergers and acquisitions, finance and insurance, energy and infrastructure, and intellectual property, Park's expertise spans multiple sectors. His addition to Lee & Ko comes at a crucial time, following the departure of arbitration partner Sunyoung Kim to Baker McKenzie's South Korean alliance firm with KL Partners, Baker McKenzie KLP JV, in May.

Park's appointment is expected to significantly strengthen Lee & Ko's international arbitration and disputes practice, which now boasts a team of 53 lawyers, including 27 partners.
