Japanese Big Five firm Nagashima Ohno & Tsunematsu (NO&T) has entered into an association in Indonesia with newly established local firm IM & Partners.

With this move, NO&T becomes the latest Japanese law firm to enter into an alliance in Indonesia. In October last year, Mori Hamada & Matsumoto entered into an association with ATD Law, while Anderson Mori & Tomotsune established an alliance with H&A Partners in 2020. Nishimura & Asahi has been in the Southeast Asian country since 2014 through associations with Rosetini & Partners and Walalangi & Partners.

Indonesia is one of the largest markets in the ASEAN region, home to a large population and a long-standing presence of many Japanese companies.

Ichsan Montang, who was a counsel at NO&T in Singapore, will lead IM & Partners. With more than 10 years of experience, he advises clients in the telecommunications, mining, shipping, industrial, technology and trading sectors on M&A, general corporate, and capital market transactions.

Montang joined NO&T in 2017 and handled Indonesian matters from Singapore. Prior to that, he worked for Assegaf Hamzah & Partners between 2012 and 2017.
