Alternative legal services provider Axiom has shelved plans for an initial public offering after receiving an undisclosed amount of investment from European private equity firm Permira Funds.

Axiom, a global alternative legal services provider, has hired Yolanda Chan as general manager for the Asia-Pacific region from Fitbit, where she held a similar role.

Alternative legal service providers (ALSPs), and, in particular, contract lawyer offerings, may have been around in Asia for about a decade, but they have started to really come into prominence in the past year as client demand spikes. And lawyers are beginning to embrace the alternative way as well.
