Malaysian law firm Zul Rafique & Partners (ZRp) has strengthened its infrastructure practice with the return of Tengku Ieras as a partner from Malakoff Corporation, where he was head of legal.

He becomes the third former partner to return to the firm from an in-house role recently, following Syed Haris and Ainal Marlinda.

Tengku Ieras, who spent three years at Malakoff, spearheaded legal matters relating to power generation, M&A, waste management and corporate governance in that company. He spent more than two decades at ZRp before moving in-house in January 2022.

He has two decades of experience in construction, infrastructure, and energy projects, with his expertise spanning construction contracts, concession agreements, and renewable energy initiatives, particularly in Malaysia's large-scale solar sector.

With Tengku Ieras’ return, ZRp now has 30 partners.
