Indian law firm Cyril Amarchand Mangaldas has brought on Sugandha Asthana, who was the general counsel at fintech firm FPL Technologies, as a partner in its Mumbai-based banking and finance practice.
This marks the firm’s second partner hire in 2025, following the addition of a seven-member real estate team led by Vaibhav Suri from Luthra and Luthra Law Offices in February.
Asthana had been a partner at AZB & Partners and Shardul Amarchand Mangaldas & Co before taking up the top legal role at FPL in 2022. She has 17 years of experience in finance and transactional work in the equity space.
“I’m confident she will be an asset to the banking and finance practice and the firm and contribute to our success,” Cyril Shroff, CAM’s managing partner, said in a statement.
Asthana is the second recent attorney to move from a senior in-house role back to private practice at CAM, following Gayathri Ramachandran, who left her role as senior legal manager at Premji Invest to join the partnership in CAM’s capital markets practice in October.
