U.S. law firm Goodwin Procter has hired private investment funds specialists Phil Culhane (L) and Elyn Xing as partners in Hong Kong. Culhane was running his own practice, Culhane & Associates, while Xing joins from Debevoise & Plimpton.

The duo join Goodwin Procter in Hong Kong a few months after the firm hired private equity expert Edwin Chan in June from Paul, Weiss, Rifkind, Wharton & Garrison.

Culhane has more than 30 years of experience, nearly 25 of which were spent with Simpson Thacher & Bartlett. He represents Asia-based alternative asset managers, from start-ups to multi-strategy firms.

Meanwhile, Xing, who also had a stint at STB, counsels on debt, energy, growth capital and emerging markets funds.

With the hires of Culhane and Xing, Goodwin Procter’s Hong Kong office now has 12 partners.
