Hong Kong law firm CFN Lawyers has continued to strengthen its team with the addition of corporate partner Patrick Wong, who joins from U.S. firm Reed Smith.
With over two decades of legal experience, Wong specializes in advising on various corporate matters, including equity and debt fundraising, investments, corporate restructurings, joint ventures, takeovers, and mergers and acquisitions. His expertise extends not only to listing companies but also to listed issuers in spin-offs and privatisations. Wong also brings valuable regulatory knowledge, having maintained productive working relationships with regulators.
Prior to joining CFN Lawyers, Wong was a partner at Reed Smith for more than 15 years.
In a LinkedIn post welcoming Wong, CFN Lawyers stated, "Patrick's client-centred approach makes him a perfect fit for our clients. We are confident that Patrick will play a significant role in our continued collective success and growth."
Established in 2013 by managing partner Bowie Fung and her colleagues, CFN Lawyers has been steadily expanding its partner ranks. The firm added dispute resolution veteran Bonita Chan last month, and with Wong's arrival, CFN Lawyers now counts 13 partners.
This strategic hire reflects a broader trend in Hong Kong's legal market, where mid-sized local firms are increasingly attracting top talent from international law firms. As these local firms expand their expertise and client base, they are becoming more competitive in the region's dynamic legal landscape, challenging the traditional dominance of large international law firms in key practice areas.
