Global law firm Hogan Lovells has appointed David Harrison as partner in its infrastructure, energy, resources and projects (IERP) practice in Ho Chi Minh City from Mayer Brown, where he led the Vietnam practice for 11 years.
Harrison's expertise spans multiple sectors. He focuses on power and infrastructure projects, including ports and LNG facilities. He has advised foreign investors on M&A transactions involving Vietnamese commercial banks and corporate targets in Vietnam, Sri Lanka, Uzbekistan, and Bangladesh.
In a notable achievement, Harrison advised on the first warranty and indemnity policy used in a Vietnamese corporate acquisition. His track record includes advising multilateral and commercial lenders on project financings and credit facilities, including a $300 million syndicated facility for the Development Bank of Mongolia.
“David’s impressive track record and experience makes him an excellent fit with our market-leading IERP practice in Vietnam. With David on board, we look forward to further growth in markets that are strategically important to our clients and to the firm,” said Tobias Faber, global practice lead for IERP, in a statement.
Added Gaston Fernandez, Vietnam managing partner: “His depth of experience and complementary client base will be a catalyst for us to continue the rapid growth of our Vietnam corporate and finance practice over the past several years, and help us scale up to the next level as the country’s rapid economic growth drives client demand for sophisticated legal services.”
With Harrison’s hire, Hogan Lovells now has eight lawyers in Vietnam, including two partners. He becomes the firm’s second lateral partner hire in Asia this year, after Charmian Aw joined in Singapore from Squire Patton Boggs.
