HHP Law Firm (HHP), the Indonesia member firm of Baker McKenzie, has kicked off 2025 with the addition of real estate and M&A lawyer Bima Sarumpaet, who rejoins the firm following a two-year partnership stint at MacalloHarlin Mendrofa Advocates (MHMS).
Sarumpaet started his career at HHP in 2006 and become a partner in 2017, before moving to MHMS in 2022. He brings almost 20 years of experience advising both international and domestic clients on M&A, complex joint ventures, structured foreign direct investments, and real estate transactions. His expertise covers the full spectrum of industrial, commercial, and residential property sectors, including townships, logistics, data centres, anchor leases, and the hotel industry.
“His return to HHP comes at a crucial time as we anticipate increased investment in the region, with investors pivoting toward Indonesia and Southeast Asia for growth opportunities and risk diversification,” said Andre Gan, Asia-Pacific chair of Baker McKenzie's M&A practice, in a statement.
Sarumpaet joins hot on the heels of the addition of a Morrison Foerster M&A team led by Shirin Tang, the former managing partner of MoFo’s Singapore office, and Ang Lip Kian to Baker McKenzie’s Singapore outfit - Baker McKenzie Wong & Leow.
"The addition of Bima underscores our ongoing commitment to attracting top-tier talent and enhancing our bench strength in Asia. As we continue to build on a robust platform and expand strategic offerings to meet clients' evolving business and legal needs, Bima's return to HHP, along with recent additions of other talented lawyers in our M&A, Tax, Dispute Resolution and Construction practices across the region, will be invaluable," said Steven Sieker, Baker McKenzie's Asia chief executive, in a statement.
