Indian law firm Shardul Amarchand Mangaldas has turned to rival AZB & Partners to strengthen its real estate offerings, adding practice leader Rohit Bajaj as a partner in New Delhi.

Bajaj, who led AZB’s real estate practice in Delhi, has more than 20 years of experience handling land acquisitions, joint ventures and complex diligence exercises, SAM said in a statement. It added his client list includes India’s top real estate developers, private equity funds, foreign companies and institutional lenders.

Bajaj had been at AZB since 2008, making partner in 2015. He joined from his own real estate-focused law firm, Bajaj & Associates, which he set up in 2006. Prior to that, he had stints at Bhasin & Co and SK Agarwal and Co.

SAM has added partners from Simpson Thacher, DMD Advocates and Lakshmikumaran & Sridharan in the past few months. The Tier 1 firm also saw eight partners jump to rival Trilegal in April.
