Singapore boutique law firm Covenant Chambers has hired Ng Pei Tong as its head of M&A and capital markets from Big Four law firm Drew & Napier, where he served as a director in the corporate finance practice.

With more than a decade of experience, Ng has developed expertise in corporate finance and commercial transactions across Singapore and the region. His specialties include listings, equity and debt issues, reverse takeovers, mergers and acquisitions, joint ventures, and private equity and venture capital investments.

Ng has been involved in several high-profile transactions throughout his career, including acting as lead counsel to China Mining International Limited in a S$900 million ($664 million) proposed reverse takeover by a Chinese state-owned mining entity. He also represented OUE Limited in the S$908 million disposal of OUE Downtown's office components to OUE Commercial REIT and advised Temasek Holdings on its IT and cloud joint venture with Infosys Limited.

Ng's practice encompasses advising SGX-listed companies on continuing listing obligations and corporate actions, including dual listings, acquisitions and disposals, share schemes and buybacks, interested person transactions, and corporate restructuring exercises. He also provides counsel on employment, data protection, and regulatory compliance matters.

Ng returned to Drew & Napier as an associate director in 2021, having started his legal career there in 2014. Between those two stints, he worked at another Big Four firm, Rajah & Tann, and at Prolegis, Herbert Smith Freehills’ formal law alliance firm in Singapore.

This appointment continues Covenant's recent expansion, following the additions of disputes lawyers Khelvin Xu from Rajah & Tann in March last year and Edwin Sim from Lexton Law Corporation in October.

Founded in 2016, Covenant Chambers now has 25 lawyers, including nine directors.
