Position Overview:

The role holder will report to the Head of Editorial for Practical Law China in the editorial function of Legal UKI. The role is part of the continued investment in and development of Thomson Reuters international legal content. The role holder will be required to write and review new content for our online legal knowhow services, maintain existing content and answer questions from customers, ensuring that all content is of the quality and scope that meets business objectives and the needs of customers.

Responsibilities:

- Researching, writing and delivering well-written, up-to-date content for online publication that reflects current market legal practice and is of the quality and scope that meets the business objectives and needs of customers.
- Ensuring that you keep up to date with law and market developments and that the content for which you are responsible is also maintained so that it continues to be of the quality and scope that meets business objectives and needs of customers.
- Subediting and reviewing your own work and that produced by others prior to online publication and where appropriate, helping support and mentor others in relation to legal writing tasks.
- Responding to questions from customers about our published content and international legal practice.
- Developing relationships with third parties with a view to obtaining contributions of content or insights to improve content.
- Supporting marketing and sales and other parts of the business to ensure delivery of business objectives.
- Supporting marketing and sales, networking with customers and potential customers and industry leaders who may impact on cross border legal practice.
- Attending training events, conferences and talks.

Qualifications

Mandatory Skills and Experience:

- Minimum of five years’ practicing experience.
- Qualification as a legal professional in Hong Kong or the PRC.
- Extensive experience with Hong Kong and PRC law relevant to their practice area.
- Excellent writing and communication skills in English and Chinese.
- Able to read and write Chinese, and speak Putonghua, to a professional level (that is, can review and understand contracts and legislation and hold business conversations).

Desirable Skills and Experience:

- Experience of working in an in house legal department or law firm in one or more of the following areas:
- Corporate law.
- Commercial law.
- Financial services regulation.
- Experience with cross-border matters in Hong Kong and the PRC and familiarity with typical group holding structures for Greater China businesses.
- Qualification as a legal professional in the UK or US.
- Proficiency with Microsoft Office applications.
- Excellent knowledge of legal research databases.
- Experience in producing well-written practical legal content efficiently of a nature that will be relevant for publication and/or teaching.
- Experience in using technology to create and disseminate online content.
- Experience in assimilating and applying new and complex information.
- Excellent attention to detail.

Education/ Certifications Required:

- UK, US, HK or PRC law graduate.
