Opportunity to lead the compliance function for this MNC for Asia Pacific.

Excellent opportunity for a talented compliance officer to join a close knit in house team in Singapore.

Client is a leading energy provider across multiple platforms on a global scale.

Knowledge
Candidate must have a good understanding of the Foreign Corrupt Practices Act of the United States, the UK Bribery Act and other similar national and international laws and regulations on anti-corruption, anti-money laundering, sanctions and other related topics.

Candidate should also have a good understanding of legal and regulatory issues applicable to listed US multinationals operating in the Asia Pacific region and an understanding/awareness of the different cultures within the region.

Job Related Experience

Candidate must have training and experience working at a senior level in a top tier national or international law firm and be currently working either: (a) as in-house compliance counsel at an internationally-recognized company (ideally in the construction or energy sectors) or other infrastructure-related multinational; or (b) as an associate specializing in FCPA and compliance related matters energy at a top tier international law firm.

Education/Experience

  • Candidate must have either (i) a degree in law from a top-ranked university and an LLM or equivalent qualification from a reputable international university or (ii) a JD or equivalent first professional university degree from a top-ranked international university or law school.
  • Experience of working in a multinational company with securities listed on NYSE or other recognized stock exchange.
  • Experience of managing compliance due diligence investigations and “know your partner” procedures.
  • Experience of advising on and investigating compliance related issues.
  • Minimum of 6 years’ experience at a reputable law firm or company, preferably in the construction or energy sectors.
  • English fluency required.
  • Fluency in Mandarin Chinese and/or Japanese an advantage.
