Leading international commercial disputes specialist Sapna Jhangiani KC has joined Blackstone Chambers, the London-based barristers' set has announced.
Jhangiani, who will continue to be based in Singapore, was the first female lawyer in the city-state to be appointed as a silk in England. She brings substantial advocacy experience in both litigation and arbitration to her new role.
Previously a partner at Clyde & Co in Dubai and Singapore, Jhangiani also served as International Legal Counsel at Singapore's Attorney-General's Chambers for three years. She remains on the Panel of Advisors to the Attorney-General.
In November, Jhangiani was sworn in as a part-time judge of the Court of Appeal of the Dubai International Financial Centre (DIFC) Courts.
“We are delighted that Sapna will bring her formidable experience and skill as an international arbitration and court advocate to Blackstone,” said Jane Mulcahy KC, Joint Head of Chambers at Blackstone, in a statement.
Jhangiani's appointment is expected to bolster Blackstone's presence in key offshore jurisdictions including Singapore, India, British Virgin Islands, Cayman Islands and Dubai.
Jhangiani was called to the Bar of England & Wales in 1999, Singapore in 2019 and the British Virgin Islands in 2024. She was appointed Queen's Counsel in 2020.
