US-based firm K&L Gates has hired veteran capital markets lawyer Brian Wesol for its burgeoning Singapore office. Wesol, who specialises in global equity offerings, debt and exchangeable securities issues, comes to the firm from the Singapore office of Jones Day.  

Noted as a South East Asia specialist, Wesol  also enjoyed stints with White & Case in Indonesia and Singapore. While at White & Case, he was seconded to the Jakarta office of Ali Budiardjo, Nugroho, Reksodiputro.

Wesol has acted on some of the region’s most high profile securities offerings of the last few years. He was counsel on the IndoCoal securitisations of 2005 and 2006, and was retained on the Republic of Indonesia bond offerings in February 2007 and June 2008. In 2009, he represented Bumi Resources in two convertible bond offerings (US$675m), a US$300m high yield bond offering and a US$1.9bn loan from China Investment Corporation.

Wesol’s arrival brings the total number of partners in K&L Gates’ Singapore office to four.
