Emphasis on its Asian banking & finance, corporate & securities, IP and real estate practice has seen Mayer Brown JSM elevate six lawyers in Hong Kong to partnership – part of 32 partner promotions worldwide.
In the latest round of promotions, which will take effect on 1 Jan 2011, Francis Chen (banking & finance) Maggie Cheung (banking & finance), Jeremy Cunningham (corporate & securities), Yong Ren (corporate & securities), Raymond Wong (real estate) and Benjamin Choi (intellectual property) were promoted.
While Chen acts for banks, financial institutions and corporate borrowers on all types of local and cross-border debt financing transactions, Cheung focuses her practice on the shipping industry.
They both joined Mayer Brown JSM in 1999.
Cunningham and Ren will join the partnership in the firm’s corporate & securities practice group. Cunningham will focus on M&A and disposals, private equity investments, venture capital work and commercial work. Ren will concentrate his practice on private investment funds formation and management.
Cunningham joined Mayer Brown JSM in 2005 and worked in secondment at the firm’s Ho Chi Minh City office between June 2008 and January 2010, where he began his involvement with energy and power projects. He joined the Hong Kong office in Feb 2010.
Ren was an associate with Ropes and Gray between 2006-2009 and prior to that worked with Simpson Thacher & Bartlett for five years. He joined Mayer Brown JSM in 2010.
Wong has broad experience in all aspects of property and conveyancing law. His clients include government authorities, major property developers, investors and property management companies. He joined Mayer Brown in 1996.
Choi’s practice addresses a wide range of intellectual property matters. He joined Mayer Brown JSM in 2008.ALB
