London-based Hogan Lovells senior partner Andrew Carey will relocate to Singapore in April 2011 as part of the firm’s expansionist push to further develop its capital markets capabilities in the region.

Carey, an English-qualified lawyer who has worked for the firm for over 21 years, specializes in international securities offerings including corporate debt, equity offerings and asset-backed debt offerings. He has also worked in multiple jurisdictions, including spending time at the firm’s New York, London and Tokyo offices.

His recent representative experience includes advising the African Export-Import Bank (Afreximbank) on its Luxembourg-listed EMTN programme and issues under it. He has also advised a number of stand-alone issues in Africa by, or guaranteed by Afreximbank. These include ITV plc on the issue of its 4% convertible bonds; the Bank of New York Mellon on a US$7bn structured investment vehicle; and SABMiller on its US$5bn EMTN programme.

Working closely with Hong Kong and Tokyo-based capital markets partner Philip Hyde, Carey will look to further the progress the teams in both jurisdictions have achieved.

Carey will join project finance partners James Harris and Alex Wong, private equity partner Stephanie Keen and corporate partner Brad Roach in the Singapore office.ALB
