RHT Law has sealed an exclusive tie-up with UK firm Taylor Wessing in a move that signals the newly-formed firms ambitions in the region and beyond.
In recent months, a number of international law firms have set up shop in the Lion City, including U.S. players Mayer Brown JSM and Duane Morris, offshore firm Collas Crill; Trans-Tasman firm Webb Henderson, as well as Asean’s DFDL Mekong.
A desire to internationalise beyond Singapore’s shores has led to the tie-up between the firms, according to RHT Law managing partner Tan Chong Huat.
According to Taylor Wessing Germany’s managing partner Wolfgang Rehmann, the accord forms a vital part of the firm’s wider Asia strategy. “Singapore is the fastest growing economy in the world with a GDP of 14.5 percent. Taking advantage of the opportunities arising in mature and emerging economies is a critical driver for Taylor Wessing’s clients and for the firm’s geographic strategy.”
Taylor Wessing UK managing partner Tim Eyles said: “As a centre for investment flows into and out of Asia, India, China and the Middle East, Singapore is an obvious move for Taylor Wessing. More than 50 percent of our clients have a presence in Singapore and that interest will only increase.”
