Paul Hastings has represented South Korean conglomerate Samsung Electronics on its acquisition of Nanoradio AB. The target is a Swedish developer of low power Wi-Fi chipsets for high-speed wireless access in portable devices including smartphones, tablets, and media players.

The acquisition suggests that Samsung intends to design and produce its own Wi-Fi chips in future portable devices.

Hong Kong partner Daniel Kim, and Palo Alto and Tokyo-based partner Matthew Berger led Paul Hastings’ team, supported by Garrett Hayes, a partner in the London office. Setterwalls acted as local Swedish counsel for Samsung and DLA Nordic advised Nanoradio. ALB
