Herbert Smith Freehills has expanded its Singapore office by relocating infrastructure partner Matthew Osborne from Melbourne.

Osborne, who has more than 15 years of experience in Southeast Asia and Australia, and has represented clients such as the National Environment Agency in Singapore, First Gen Corp in the Philippines, the Brunei Economic Development Board, and Australia’s Santos.

“There are increasing demands for new and improved infrastructure across Asia and India which will see significant investments made in both the public and private sector,” said Richard Nelson, the firm’s lead partner for Southeast Asia energy and infrastructure, in a statement. “Having someone of Matt’s calibre join us in Singapore leverages the depth of energy and infrastructure and projects expertise, and demonstrates how we can access that talent were clients need it most.”

Osborne’s relocation follows the promotion of project finance specialist Fergus Smith to partner at the firm’s Hong Kong office.
