Knowledge Management Director (Professional Support)

The Director of Knowledge Management (Professional Support) will partner with the Knowledge Management Partners and KM Director (Practice Development) in the development and execution of a firm-wide Knowledge Management (KM) strategy. 

The successful candidate will lead the firm’s KM Professional Support initiative, including the Continuing Legal Education (CLE), Library Services and the firm’s in-house Precedent Database functions. 

Responsibilities

• Oversee the strategic development, implementation and execution of the KM Professional Support function.
• Partner with practice groups to ensure strategic alignment of business goals and KM strategy.
• Supervise, lead and mentor the other members of the KM department and assume day-to-day responsibility for all KM (Professional Support) activities.
• Stay current with KM trends and be well-versed in developments in the law as well as law firm business trends.
• Work closely with the KM Partners and KM Director (Practice Development) to implement technologies to support new initiatives.
• Oversee and develop the firm’s external and internal CLE initiatives.
• Develop and manage the firm’s Library services and resources
• Pro-actively engage practice groups to coordinate the development of precedents and practice support materials to ensure that the KM practice needs of the practice groups are addressed.
• Work closely with practice groups to ensure that precedents are regularly reviewed and updated in a timely manner.
• This role is based in Singapore.

Requirements

• Law degree from an accredited university
• Minimum 7 years’ work experience as a lawyer in a top tier practice.
• KM experience in a large law firm environment will be welcomed (but not a pre-requisite), and experience in an international law firm will be advantageous.
• Strong analytical and technical ability so as to gain confidence of partners and senior lawyers and be able to draw on practical experience to deliver practical solutions.
• Excellent drafting, research, writing, communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to clearly and accurately convey information and ideas.
• Self-motivated and results-oriented leader with a passion for innovation and developing new ways of supporting client-facing lawyers in the firm.
