DLA Piper has chosen Joe Bauerschmidt as managing partner at its Singapore office, replacing John Viverito.

Bauerschmidt, whose appointment will take effect May 1, currently heads the firm’s capital markets team for Southeast Asia and will retain this role alongside his new responsibilities. Bauerschmidt has been practising in Asia since 1997 and has over 25 years of experience in capital markets and M&A work in New York, Hong Kong and Singapore.

Bauerschmidt, who has been with DLA Piper since January 2015, “has played a key role in our growth strategy in Singapore as well as in the ASEAN region,” said Terry O'Malley, the firm’s chairman emeritus and chair of the Asia Committee.

Outgoing MP Viverito has been designated as corporate vice chair of the Asia-Pacific Council of American Chambers of Commerce (AmCham) – the umbrella unit for the 29 AmChams in the region – and will take on additional responsibilities for the organisation. He will continue to work with DLA Piper by focusing on client development for the firm’s Singapore office.
