UK law firm Osborne Clarke has established a presence in Singapore after launching a formal law alliance with local firm OC Queen Street that includes Chia Ling Koh, a former partner with Bird & Bird.

The Singapore entry is part of Osborne Clarke’s widening of its legal footprint in the Asia-Pacific region. In 2014, it set up a “best friend” relationship with India’s BTG Legal, and set up an association with Koh Vass & Co in Hong Kong last year.

The new association will focus on the digital and fintech sectors across Southeast Asia as well as offer cross-border advisory services to its clients.

Koh is a specialist in IT, data and IP,and advises on matters such as digital innovation, investments and transformation based on international cybersecurity standards, core banking and trading systems migration, satellite-based tracking and payment systems and global IT businesses.

Currently Koh is the only partner at OC Queen Street, but the firm expects to grow by the end of the year.
