Singapore law firm Harry Elias Partnership (HEP) has appointed hired Brian Law as the regional head of its IP practice from Malaysia’s Wong & Partners.

The hiring comes as HEP looks to expand its practice within Southeast Asia and beyond.

Law has experience in various aspects of IP matters and has secured landmark decisions involving trademark and patent disputes in Malaysia. He has also been responsible for a number of anti-counterfeiting raids across the region.

Apart from establishing the new IP practice at HEP’s Brunei office, Law will co-lead the IP team in Malaysia alongside Suaran Singh Sidhu of HEP’s affiliated firm Azri, Lee Swee Seng & Co.

Together they will oversee six IP lawyers, including recent recruit and a former colleague of Law’s, Chai Pei Yee.
