Clifford Chance has hired Anita Lam to head its Hong Kong employment practice from DLA Piper, where she was of counsel.

Lam, who joins CC’s litigation and disputes resolution team as a consultant, practices across all areas of employment law, focusing on contentious employment, discrimination and data privacy issues. She has worked on several high-profile cases in Hong Kong, such as advising the liquidators of Asia Television on the complex labour issues surrounding the broadcasting company’s widely publicised insolvency.

"Anita's extensive background perfectly complements our team as our clients require increasingly sophisticated counsel on matters, which now often include local employment elements,” said Brian Gilchrist, a partner at Clifford Chance, in a statement.

Lam is DLA Piper’s second senior employment lawyer in Hong Kong to leave the firm so far this year. In February, news broke that Julia Gorham, DLA Piper’s employment head, will join Seyfarth Shaw as a partner.
