Asian Legal Business is delighted to announce the list of finalists for the 5th annual ALB Korea Law Awards 2017, taking place at the Grand Hyatt Seoul on Thursday November 16th.
Top-tier domestic law firms lead the nominations this year – with Lee & Ko and Yulchon tied at the front with 16 nominations each; Bae, Kim & Lee and Kim & Chang follow closely behind with 15 nominations each.
This year, we have a record number of 17 international law firms nominated for the International Law Firm of the Year category. Herbert Smith Freehills lead the international law firms with 8 nominations, followed by Kobre & Kim with 4 nominations.
Among the in-house nominations, we see a bevy of elite local and global corporations nominated. Deutsche Securities Korea, Google Korea, Hyundai Engineering & Construction, Hyundai Heavy Industries, POSCO Daewoo Corporation and The Export-Import Bank of Korea (KEXIM) all have 3 nominations each on the in-house side.
The ALB Korea Law Awards 2017 will award a total of 34 awards, featuring new and exciting categories. ALB is proud to introduce the inaugural award of Woman Lawyer of the Year, and congratulates the private practice and in-house lawyers in this category. We also see great participation in the new in-house team categories – Construction and Heavy Industries In-House Team of the Year and Retail and Manufacturing In-House Team of the Year and the new law firm category – Projects, Energy and Infrastructure Law Firm of the Year.
