DLA Piper has hired Helen Colquhoun as a partner and head of its employment team in Hong Kong. She joins from Withers, where she was a special counsel and also led the employment practice in the city.

Colquhoun has more than a decade of experience practicing in London, New York and Hong Kong. She has advised employers on matters including restructurings, managing employee hiring and terminations, secondment and expatriate arrangements, and drafting remuneration schemes, contracts and handbooks.

“Her know-how is also a great asset to both our team and our clients,” said Tim Marshall, DLA Piper’s global co-leader of the employment team, in a statement. “As Hong Kong is one of our key jurisdictions in Asia, we are thrilled to have Helen on board.”

Earlier this year, DLA Piper’s Hong Kong office lost two senior employment lawyers. In May, Anita Lam, who was counsel at the firm, moved to Clifford Chance to head the firm’s Hong Kong employment practice. And in February, Julia Gorham, who led the Asia employment law practice, left to establish Seyfarth Shaw’s Hong Kong office.
