Jones Day has appointed infrastructure and energy expert Richard Kramer as partner in its global energy practice at its Tokyo office from Simmons & Simmons, where he was the country head for Japan.

Kramer joined Simmons in 2012 after spending five years in in-house roles, including more than two years as a director with Credit Suisse in London and slightly shorter role in Tokyo. He started his career with Shearman & Sterling, and worked in that firm’s New York, Tokyo and Abu Dhabi offices.

Apart from advising corporate and government sponsors and investors, EPC contractors and financiers in relation to the acquisition, development, and financing of major projects, Kramer also acts on cross-border transactions, particularly those involving the oil and gas, conventional and renewable power, mining, medical device, media, and transportation sectors.
